Snowboarding is a sport where individuals ride, upright, on a long board, called a snowboard, and compete in various competitions on snow-covered tracks. Racing competitions include snowboard cross, slalom, and giant slalom, where participants race down various types of slopes, with the winner having the fastest time. Slopestyle competitions involve participants performing aerial tricks along a series of jumps and obstacles; competitors in half-pipe perform tricks on a semi-circular ramp. The winner of these two competitions gains the most points from judges based on execution of tricks and landings.
