Skeleton is a sport where individuals race down an ice-covered track using a metal sleigh. Competitors race while lying on their stomach, head first. The tracks are artificially designed to have many twists and large, banked turns. The individuals take turns racing through the course; the individual with the fastest combined time over all races is the winner. Competitions are often decided by as little as a fraction of a second, requiring winning teams to be mistake-free.
