Rowing is a sport where individuals or teams race on water using oar-powered boats. The two competition types either use scull oars (two oars per rower) or sweep oars (one oar per rower). Scull races can have one, two, or four rowers per boat. With sweep oars, races with two or four rowers per boat have no additional person to steer, but races with eight rowers per boat have an additional pilot. Winning individuals or teams reach the designated finish line first.
