Horse racing is a sport where individuals race each other on horses to be the first to cross the finish line, with the speed of the horse being the deciding factor. Throughout the world, countries differ in the length of the races run, but the tracks that the horses are raced on are usually dirt, synthetic, or turf. Flat races, or races along a flat course of varying lengths, are most common. In some countries, courses also include hurdles that the horses must leap.
