Horse racing is a sport where individuals race each other on horses to be the first to cross the finish line, with the speed of the horse being the deciding factor. In Australia, there are flat and hurdle races. In flat racing, horses are raced along a flat course made of turf or synthetic material, up to 2 miles long. In hurdle races (most common in the states of Victoria and South Australia), horses must jump over obstacles along the course.
