Harness racing is a sport where individuals race each other using horses. The driver rides behind the horse in a two-wheeled cart, called a sulky, which is attached to the horse. The first to cross the finish line is the winner, with the speed of the horse being the deciding factor. In continental European countries, horses are required to travel at a trotting speed. In most other countries, there are also races where horses are allowed to travel faster, called pacing.
