Curling is played by two teams of four players on an icy surface, with each team taking turns sliding heavy rocks toward the circular target at the other end of the ice. Points are gained by a team when their stones are closest to the center of the target. Points are scored at the end, after each team has used all their rocks; a game usually consists of 8 or 10 ends. Two of the team members, called sweepers, use brooms to adjust the path of the rock.
