Baseball is a game played between two teams of nine players on a field divided into an infield (dirt) and outfield (grass), with four bases in a diamond around the infield. One defensive player, the pitcher, throws a ball at the offensive player, who attempts to hit it with a round bat. If successful, the batter remains on the field with a chance to score. Games last nine innings, with both teams allowed one at-bat per inning.
