Alpine skiing is an Olympic sport where individuals, wearing skis, race down slopes covered with snow. Participants must descend the slope in a zig-zag fashion, performing turns at spots marked by flags. The individual who takes the least time to finish the course wins. There are five alpine skiing events at the Olympics: slalom, downhill, giant slalom, combined, and super-giant slalom, which have different distances between turns. The combined event comprises one downhill run and two slalom runs, with the combined best time winning.
